“I want to be relevant online,” this is something we hear from clients all the time, and we know that the world of social media can be quite overwhelming. However, if used correctly, it can be your best friend. Some of our most asked questions are: how do I get my name out there, what should I post and how often?

Well don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Here’s our ultimate guide to growing your business’s social media platforms organically.

Why Organically?

Let’s break this down shall we? Why does it matter if your brand is grown organically or through paid advertising? It actually matters a lot. As a business owner you want people to trust you and part of that is having organic and authentic content going out. You are building a relationship with your audience bit by bit. Paying for social posts can be helpful, but there is a time and place for that. Posting content from you to your consumer is a great way to show them your brand.

Add Value

Let’s face it, you think your company is the most interesting thing ever, but others might not find value in following you on social platforms if they are not getting something out of it. The way to add value is to put out content that is useful to your customers. Most of the time people go to web pages like a pest control page or even a construction page to solve a problem they are having. So, consistently putting out tips and tricks, trends to watch out for, best time of the year to do something, this will keep them coming back to you. Share your blog posts to your platforms to drive traffic to your website. Adding value to their feed  also builds the relationship because they now feel they can trust you and the information you put out. You can also share relevant content in your industry or relevant information from your area!

Keep Brand Consistency

If your brand was a person, what would they sound like? Use this to drive your social posts and how you portray your company online! Everything, no matter who writes it, should sound like it is coming from one person.

All platforms should be properly branded with logo, emblems, links to your webpages or latest video or blog. Your fonts across posts should be brand approved fonts, as well as the colors. Creating a cohesive social media account can do wonders for brand recognition.

Get to Know Your Audience

Knowing your audience is everything. If you know what they like, what they're looking for, etc.then you can better serve them. It’s also important to understand which platforms your target audience is using. If you are launching a project that someone in a specific age group is interested in, then you can use that as part of your targeting! There’s no point in wasting your time on a platform if your customers aren’t there.

Engage In Others’ Posts

Like, follow, comment and share! These three things can boost your page dramatically. If a consumer knows you will respond to the comment on a post, they will come back to your page and continue to like and share other posts. It’s all about building trust and a relationship.

Tips:

  • Comment on prospective customer’s pictures, or influencers you want to work with.

  • Be sure to answer all comments, messages, or questions on any and all content you publish. If possible, respond within 24 hours.

It only takes 5 minutes a day to engage with posts and customers and the return you see will be well worth the time!

Stick To A Schedule

Sticking to a posting schedule falls right into being consistent on your social media platforms. Posting once a day, 3-5 times a week, will keep your company top of mind but not too in people's faces. If you post too much content, you run the risk of annoying your followers. Make sure your content is something that will catch your customers attention!

Follow Those You Want To Build Relationships With

This seems like a no brainer, but we often are so focused on posting content that we forget about actually following prospective clients. Take just 10 minutes out of your day to follow anyone you really want to build a lasting relationship with. This is a great practice for LinkedIn. You can connect with people in your target industry!

Always Put a CTA

Always put a call to action! This could be a link to a blog, your phone number, website, or just an article you find interesting. This will drive traffic to all your platforms and therefore giving you data on what people are actually visiting and want to see!

There is so much you can learn about your target audience by using these practices. Audiences can help you decide what direction to go in next, but that's for another blog.

We hope this gives you some guidance on what to do to take your platforms to the next level.
